Heritage Square re-zoning vote likely on October 10

Published September 20th, 2006 by Town Of Sweden

After nearly two years of study, the Sweden Town Board is ready to vote on the Heritage Square re-zoning application. The vote will likely take place at the regular Town Board meeting on October 10. That evening, the Board plans to adopt a Findings Statement relative to the project. The Board has also developed a list of conditions that would be attached to the potential re-zoning.

The Heritage Square application calls for the re-zoning of 130 acres of residential land on the west side of Redman Road, just north of the Sweden Town Park, to allow for a mix of residential types and small-scale businesses. McLean Development has proposed a mostly senior living community including an assisted living facility, single-family homes, town houses and patio homes with small retail businesses and possibly a hotel.

If the Town Board approves the re-zoning application, the developer would then have to apply for Site Plan and Subdivision Approval with the Sweden Planning Board.
