Section of Route 31 Closing - The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) is advising motorists today a section of Route 31 (Fourth Section Road) between West Sweden Road and Route 19 (Lake Road) will be closed for three days beginning Tuesday, August 9, while a culvert is replaced. It is expected to reopen on Thursday, August 11.
The culvert is located between Hartsthorn Drive and Viking Way just west of Route 19 in the Town of Sweden, Monroe County. Local traffic will be permitted up to the work site from either side. A detour will be posted directing motorists to go south on Route 19 (Lake Road) to White Road to West Sweden Road to bypass the work zone.
Foundation and Town secure grant for Sweden Town Park - In a partnership that continues to benefit recreational opportunities for Sweden residents and its neighbors, the Sweden Community Recreation Foundation and Town of Sweden have secured a $446,145 grant from the New York State Regional Economic Development Council. The grant will supply the majority of funding for a 2,600 square foot Lodge, new handicapped-accessible playground equipment and a sidewalk to the canal. Read more
